I recently happened to find a stone, that already had a very nice flat side. With a shape like this it could just as well have been begging to become a Runestone.
So I came up with this design, inspired by the Urnes-style.
Runestones traditionally were erected in memory of dead friends or relatives.
The oldest is the Einangsteinen in Norway. Its inscription, in proto-norse, reads:
(Ek go)ðagastiz runo faihido
(I, Go)dguest painted/wrote this runic inscription.
I have not yet decided what kind of inscription I will add to my stone, but I’ll make sure to make separate posts, showing the process as well as the the final peice.
